well....it's down to the chase...a couple of surprises, mostly the same old characters...have to kinda snicker that juuuunyer was shut out again...but am interested to see how he'll flourish under new boss rick hendrick...i don't wish him ill...you can't pick your parents-lol! i would like for a dark horse, jeff burton to win...have always liked him...also wouldn't mind seeing tony win a 3rd, in fact the only ones i DON'T want to win are the trees from vegas and "happy"....and now shrub will be in our car, which will be the new rolling snickers bar...also, the dreaded UNITE labor union is blasting cintas in relation to the kentucky speedway lawsuit...apparently, one of our ceo's is a shareholder in the speedway...from all that i've heard, nascar specifically told them, that they would never get a cup race-they can have busch, trucks, arca, etc but they were too near chicago and others to constitute a cup race...and UNITE is wanting people to sign a petition to have nascar change uniform companies...these labor unions are getting so frantic for funds, that they're grasping at straws..sad, sad, sad....you can check it out at www.notonmytrack.org...i'm done for now....

although this is a couple of weeks old, how great is this pic? this was kyle's third place finish at the coca-cola 600 on memorial day weekend...hate to see him out of the car but chad did a "phenomenal" job last week in dover...just wonder how well he would've finished had they gotten the whole race in...this week is john andretti...mmmm...let's just hope the points don't slip! stayed tuned......

except for the troubles of pe, tony and jp montoya-it was another "texas" finish...really wanted the 13th different winner-and jeffy would've been fine-but i'm happy w/the results...was sitting in pretty much most of "jr nation" and was the only one clapping when shrub butted him...didn't find out about jr jumping into the bush-lol-til we were on the road out...and it was another 5 minute exit-thank you very much!! that was a cool thing for jr to do...i'm getting where i kinda like the kid-just from a "hanging out with" perspective-it's just that the majority of his fans (and his daddy's) are obnoxious and that's what puts me off of him more than anything else...he's not as much of a bully as his dad was but, i digress...heard on kyle's scanner after they had fixed the spindle by billy wilburn (his crew chief) "man, this SUCKS! you're running top 10 speeds...this SUCKS!!!!" and kyle agreed w/him...bobby's problem was the perverbial "hot dog wrapper" that shot his water temp up...had to make a pit stop to take it off and i think that's when mike bliss went sliding down the backstretch in front of us-i even heard his tire blow-through the ear mufflers and radio..and bobby was never able to make up the laps he lost...dang it!! used birthday money and got some earrings, 2 shirts and a license plate holder...got a bunch of freebies...and nascar day pins...and i thought this was really cool...walking the mall-went by the 55 trailer and there was a big crowd...in spite of everything, there was mikey, signing autographs and being very gracious...glad he was okay after that nasty wreck he had...if you want to see the pix, see the link below...you just can't help but feel bad for him...just watched qualifying for saturday's race and he didn't make it again...poor mikey!!! anyway...got real sunburned-even with a cap on! but i'll be okay...ttyl

well, this weekend is the first weekend for the c.(car) o. (of) t. (tomorrow)...since the pettys were the first team(s) to work w/dodge at the inspiritaion of this concept, we all have HIGH hopes for sunday! i don't if it will show up in qualifying but hopefully, it will in traffic! robbie loomis is very optimistic about the weekend! and when the higher ups are excited, it can't help but bring the rest of the crew up...

well...what a race...kyle blows a tire, and bobby's lost 2nd gear...but did manage to avoid-barely-all the mishaps...i've listened to nascar's view on why a caution wasn't thrown and i'm not buying it...it was said on "morning drive" on sirius (which btw-if the fcc approves, sirius is taking over xm...), they (nascar) was waiting to see if shrub could "get his car straightened out"..what a load! boris said went spinning OFF the track and they threw a caution! mark was anticipating the caution and had lost his drafting partner (shrub) and was beat by "happy"...being the gentleman that mark is, he thought there would be a flag but is content to take second...it's possible that if the flag had been flown, happy would've been ahead at the last "loop" and that's okay...it just would've been nice to have that telementry...oh well...there were some funny commercials...the mad max/jr one and the oreo's...anybody else have any favorites? and what is your take on the finish? sorry the pic is so dark..it was taken at the november race at tms...

it's finally here!!! the superbowl!!! the daytona 500!! boy, has it been an interesting speed weeks! 5 teams have fines/points deducted/crew chiefs suspended and 1 has to go to the back of the back for "misalignment of screws holding the shock"-yeah, right! you don't have a rookie screw on a shock! and you don't add sterno or another accelerant to your fuel or drill holes in bolts holding on your spoiler...it will be interesting to see if there are any post race infractions...anxious to see how pe does and would kinda like to see tony make history by winning the shootout/duel race and the 500-he's a big favorite...loving the sirius radio! get to hear all kinds of information one would just get a smattering from the internet or tv...not real thrilled about kp taking the tnt gig...but will be interested in hearing him call the race from the car at infenion..said to give a 15 second delay-just in case he gets cross w/anyone-lol!! and we haven't heard a peep outta the somewhat feud between teresa and jr-which i'm sure jr is happy about!

anyway...good luck kyle and bobby! and stay outta the "big" one!

went to sister's on christmas day...and the city still hasn't paved the street to her house...my truck looks like i went muddin'-lol! i feel sorry for my dad and sister-they have vans...i'm surprised they didn't get stuck! got to see the new puppy, doc, and he's adorable! john got spoiled, as usual..and we all got great gifts...i think everyone was very happy-til the cowboy game...damn! they just didn't show up! oh well...we're still in the playoffs...was off today and hubby and i went to see "rocky balboa"...if you're a fan of the first films, you'll like this one too...had several teary moments but a good message about living life to the fullest-no matter what...and to believe in yourself...now, it's back to the work grind for 3 days..then arenacross and new years...have a good one!!

just wanted to wish everyone a merry and safe christmas! all of my critters are healthy, and so is all the family...had a good time at mother-in-laws, except for mike's brother getting twisted about scraping the bottom of his van on the driveway..i felt sorry for april and sean...they had to leave before we got to open presents...but they all loved the candles that i made and except for the wrong size of jacket for ashley, everything else was good...and it's off to sister's in waxahachie...get to see the puppy for the first time...and mom's fruit salad...yummmmm!!! love to all!

it's that time of year again, boys and girls...the second race at good ole tms...was able to attend cup/busch qualifying today...and got some good pix of bobby, kyle, tony and jeffy's cars as they were being pushed to pit road...also managed to get bobby to sign a diecast car...the pit passes were from my great boss, calvin..he's hooked me up for several nascar things-thanx!! but you had to buy tickets to the truck race to get in...luckily, i knew about discount tix at 7-11 that saved us some money but sure didn't expect to have to pay extra...and if i'd a known (i know-good english linda) that the pit passes didn't include the garage area, i would've passed on them...got some cool pix though-at least i hope they're cool..filled up the card on my digital camera and had to switch to the 35mm...and we would've probably stayed for the race but it was getting very cold and neither of us had coats, just sweatshirts and didn't bring any extra food and of course the most important thing was the dogs...i'm already imposing on the family by asking them let them out to do their business on sunday, didn't want to push it...oh well, it was an expensive lesson but at least i got an autograph out of it...and kyle was a make it or go home car and he made it in-whew!! and bobby did really well so...looking forward to the race and another top 10-at least!! thanx to billy, robbie and paul!!! now if we can just get the pit stops up to par...so...boggity, boggity, boggity-let's go racin'!!!!!!

sad day in the metcalf family...beloved pet "spot" that enhanced my lil bro's life, was relieved of his pain today...the once fluffy and full of angst kitty had suffered renal failure and was getting toxic poisoning because he wasn't using the pan...now he boss around the others that have crossed the rainbow bridge and i have no doubt that he will-lol! we luv ya bro and we're here if ya need us...

mr. mikey has decided to give up motocross...wants a street bike...so looks like (if i can get everything sold! LOL!) we'll have a normal driveway again! now if i can just get him to clean out the garage....course we still need to put together the storage building we bought months ago...had to get baby merlin "fixed"...caught him and shasta together 3 times! only good thing is if we get pups, both are registered so we can sell them instead of having to give them away...

a day that everyone wants to spend on the lake or in the backyard w/friends/family, it starts off as any other day in july...until about 4:30 when the bottom drops out! and one is in a quandry because they want to be able to hang out outside but yet, the area is 12 inches short of rainfall and the poor yard and the lake you're on needs it so desperately...and hoping that all will have passed by and cleared by nightfall for the fireworks...then it can rain again to it's heart's content...hope everyone has a nice/safe and dry 4th...

well, we finally did it...we upgraded to dsl...and it's already been fun! being able to watch videos w/o it skipping every 2 sec...thanx to scott and dad for walking us through it and the ethernet card...and nascar.com doesn't take 2 years to download! YEAH!! oh well, just wanted to update...

well...like the title said, kyle had just gotten back on the lead lap and the next thing i heard on the scanner was "the engine just went flat like last week"...then something about a "cylinder" then saw/smelled the smoker driving by in front of us...DANG IT!!!! bobby, on the other hand, had a really good day...stayed in around the top 10-15 all day...got a bit of a scare when carl edwards when slidding in front of him and tony-you could practically hear his heart beating through the scanner...and we'll take a 10th place finish...it was really great to see all the yellow or white bobby/cheerios shirts and hats everywhere...of course, jr's was the dominate driver of choice...but didn't hear much about him on the radio (the prn broadcast on 105.3)...would've liked to hook up with nancy and charles but didn't hear from them...got a bunch of samples and watched some of "raceday"...left the stands with 2-1/2 laps to go, jumped in the tahoe and was out of the speedway in about 5 minutes! that's the fastest we've ever gotten out! thanx again to dad and sue for taking care of our babies...and next week, we'll have withdrawals cuz of easter...

it's finally race weekend (the first of three at texas motor speedway-tms)!! just watched an exciting iroc race in which tony stewart won and did his spiderman impression...he really didn't want to but he said "when you've got 100,000 fans screaming for you to, you just gotta..." steve kinser did another rollover but was okay...and they were three wide a lot of the time...almost like a plate race but on a smaller scale...and, of course-had to buy some new bobby labonte stuff since he drives for the king...got the "pitroad pets" book that goes to the ryan newman animal foundation and mikey got a 2 time champion tony stewart shirt...a fun time was had by all-exept for the high winds and dropping temperatures...and found out that kyle(petty) and bobby both qualified in the top 20....sweet! really looking forward to the race now! will give "race report" on monday...

man....kyle just can't get a brake (pun intended)! rather, carl shoulda FOUND his!! mom called hoping that he (kyle) wasn't hurt...i knew he wasn't-didn't hit him directly in the side, just peeled the side off...but bless him, he got back out there so there wouldn't be a dnf...and bennie parsons needs to SHUT UP!! the very next caution, bobby was caught up in it...this was after bennie had remarked that he (bobby) had missed all the others by the skin of his teeth! oh well, off to hollyweird...someone in amarillo saw the truck going through on i-40...
can't wait to hear nancy's report from daytona!! they had texas weather this past weekend!

it's finally time to hear my very favorite sound...no, i don't mean the latest heavy metal record...i mean NASCAR!! and with all the changes that petty enterprises has made over the winter, i just can't wait til the 500 next week...would've liked to see bobby in the shootout but old promises die hard...richard and lee promised elizabeth (richard's mom/lee's wife) that there would never be an alcohol sticker/sponsor on a petty car...and the stipilation with the bud shootout is that you have to run a budweiser sticker...man, bobby could use this extra week of "practice"...but hopefully this next week, we'll finally know all of kyle's sponsors for the year...and the stars and the mavs are on winning streaks..life is good! hey, anyone wanna go to a stars playoff game? we can get season ticket discounts, thanx to dad and mom at christmas! more later!

was really getting used to these 4 day work weeks...made it through new year's unscathed...still haven't caught up on my sleep...now looking forward to daytona...found out that bobby is testing at tms at the end of the month-could we finally get the 45 sponsorships questions answered? have somewhat high hopes for petty enterprises this year..and next year, when nascar switches to sirius, i'll be right there waiting-hubby got me radio for christmas...but gotta run and feed all the critters....peace...

boy, will i be glad to see this year end! everyone in my family has lost a very special member-a pet...my sister got double dinged! and i did too, i was sharing my cat with my brother and we lost her and my 6 yr old akita to cancer...mom and dad's cat had cancer too...i'm not liking the "c" word!! so, i'd just soon forget this year because of all of the heartache...let's hope the new one has more inspiring promises...on a lighter note...was VERY happy that petty enterprises not only signed robbie loomis but also added todd parrett as crew chief and bobby labonte the driver for the famous 43...so, i can't WAIT til daytona!! so things are already looking up for '06...have a safe and sound new years!
